Community - 仲間
On our way to work this morning, we spotted a tripawd hopping around.
While tripawds are still rare, if you pay close attention, you will see a few around you. In fact, we've met at least 4 of them while our walks in the neighborhood.
www.tripawds.com is a huge community in the U.S. We were introduced to this website right after the accident and have received so much support, information and hope from all the proud tripawd parents.
今朝、出勤途中に近所で3脚のワンちゃんを見かけました。やはり3脚の犬は珍しいですが、気をつけて見ていると、結構周りに居るものですね。我が家の近所でも、お散歩中にこれまでに4匹とお会いしました。
アメリカにはwww.tripawds.comという素晴らしいオンラインのコミュニティーがあり、私たちもこのサイトから沢山の情報、勇気、サポートをもらいました。
そしてなんと帰宅中には柴犬と秋田犬を見かけました。なんだかラッキーになった気分な一日でした。
仲間がいると思うと心が温たまりますね。

It must've been our lucky day today. On our way back home, we saw Shiba AND Akita!
It made me smile to feel the sense of communities.

Tripawd's law #003 -3脚の掟 其の3
Stretch and scratch.
Jake is a true Shiba. He's got a cat like attitude - very sensitive about when and how to be touched. However stretching his tight muscles is very important. (If he lets us) We like to check in with his muscles and massage the tightened areas.
There are some areas of his body that are now harder for him to reach. Scratching those areas for him almost makes him go "purrrr".

ストレッチ&スクラッチ
柴犬は本当に猫の様で、触られ方や、そのタイミングに対してとっても敏感。
嫌がられてしまいますが、足を良く伸ばしてあげたり、硬くなった筋肉をほぐしてあげる事はとても大事です。
触ったついでには、届きにくくなっている部分もかいてあげます。気持ちよくなって思わず猫の様な声を出しそうなジェイクです。

tripawd's law #002 - 三脚の掟 其の2
Eat well and stay slim.
Arthritis is our biggest enemy!
We'll all eventually get it but let's delay it as much as possible.
To protect the joints, Jake takes Cosequin DS and Welactin everyday.
On his lucky days, he gets to taste a little flavor of "homemade meals".
Keeping his weight light = being easy on the remaining joints.

健康に食べ、スリムでいよう。
付き物の関節症は不死身の敵。でも色んな方法で敵の到着を遅らせる事は出来そうです。毎日のサプリを欠かさない事と、たまにですが、手作りのごはんを食べ、健康＆スリムでいてもらう事を心がけています。

Being a Shiba Inu, Jake was either a bully or got bullied for his excessive snobby attitude at most dog parks. Being a tripawd, it was harder to fight back when being pinned down by other larger dogs.
Huntington Dog beach (www.dogbeach.org) is our favorite place on earth. Jake runs freely without getting in any trouble. Almost.

４本足の時と同じ早さで走る。
柴犬の気性丸出しでドックランに行くと、大抵いじめっ子かいじめられっ子になるジェイク。３本足の場合、いじめられっ子になるとちょっと厄介。という事で、犬OKのビーチに行くのが最高！リードを外し、（ほぼ）喧嘩する事も無く思いっきり自由に走れるのです。

Hello world!
I am Jake - a 3 year old bubbly Shiba Inu in sunny Los Angeles, California.
On a warm evening in June 2011, on my way to a BBQ, I mistakenly jumped from a moving car... I had a nerve damage on my left forearm. For the next 5 months, I did a lot of physical therapy and acupuncture sessions but it was time to receive an amputation surgery in November 2011 - at the end, it was better to hop on 3 than to drag on 4.
I want to share my stories and experiences with you and have you take a peek of my "life as a tripawd"!
はじめまして。アメリカ、ロスアンジェルス在住、3歳白柴のジェイク（♂）と申します。
2011年の6月に、バーベキュー行きの車の窓から飛び出し、左前足の神経に大きな怪我をしました。事故の後約5ヶ月間リハビリや針を通して完治を望みましたが、同じ年の11月に足の切断手術をしました。使えない足を引きずる代わりに、3本で元気に飛び回ることにしました。
体験した色々なエピソードや、3本足の犬としての日々のお話をお伝えして、少しでもお役に立てたらと思っています。どうぞよろしく！
